TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

Section A - Purpose:
At the beginning of each season, the presiding President will appoint a
riding committee composed of no less than five (5) members who will review the
Club’s Rules and Regulations, and make any necessary recommendations that would
be appropriate for the coming season. These rules, regulations and new proposals
will be submitted to the General Body for final approval. If possible the
committee should be made up of one member from each class and one non-riding
member.
The AJC will ride under the Maryland State Jousting Tournament Riding Rules.
Section B - Tournament
Rules :

All riders will have the option to ride up one
class immediately above their designated class per tournament.
Points and rings taken in the ride up class will not count
towards individual AJC class points.

In the event that any class cannot be completed, the
remainder of that class will be run prior to the opening ceremonies of the next
scheduled tournament. Only those riders who were registered to ride at the
incomplete tournament are eligible to ride in the make-up.

There will be a designated Field Marshall for each class as needed.
Section C - Club Regulations :

All riders must hold a membership card for the current
year, said card to be obtained upon payment of dues, in order to ride, unless
he/she is an invited guest of the club. Every member of the Club must be given
a copy of the new Riding Rules and Regulations each year. The Club Treasurer
will post a listing of the non-paid riding members with the Secretary on the
grandstand. All new riding members, upon payment of dues, shall be given a copy
of the Maryland State Riding Rules and By-Laws of this Club immediately by the
Recording Secretary.

Guest riders who are not members of another jousting
club may ride in no more than two tournaments per season.

Any member in good standing of another jousting club
may ride as a invited guest rider at any AJC joust. These riders will not be
eligible for any special classes IE: Founder's Day, Wilson, Bell, etc.

An entree fee of $5.00 per class will be charged at
each tournament. The Double Header will be $5.00 per tournament.

Sponsors for new riding members and guest riders will
be responsible for the rider understanding the Riding Rules and Regulations.

All members will be notified in advance as to the time
and place of all tournaments.

Only Amateur Jousting Club Tournaments will count
toward Club Championship points and the Wilson Ring Count Trophy. The Club
Championship Day will mark the end of the current season, and any succeeding
tournaments will count toward the following year.

On Club Championship Day there will be a special
trophy and crown awarded to each Class Champion. Class IV Champion will be
designated AJC Champion.

A point system will determine the Champion in each class:
1STplace win= 5 points 3rdplace win= 2 points
2ndplace win= 3 points 4thplace win= 1 point

Whichever class a rider takes the most points in
during the year will be designated as his/her Championship Class. The rider
will carry his/her points with them from class to class. If a rider collects an
equal amount of points in two classes during the year, the points will carry
back to the lower class. If there is a tie for points in any class, there will
be a sudden death ride off, starting with their class ring size and dropping
one size after each ride. These rings will not count toward the Wilson Trophy.

All rings taken in a riders designated class including
ties, will count towards the Henry Wilson Ring Count Trophy.
Section D - Riding Attire:

All riding members will be neat in appearance during
competition !!! NO TEE-SHIRTS, TENNIS SHOES, SHORTS, HALTER TOPS, TANK TOPS
OR BARE MIDRIFF, ETC. IF THIS RULE IS
ABUSED THE RIDING COMMITTEE, AT THEIR DISCRETION, MAY EXCUSE THE RIDER FROM
PARTICIPATION.

It is strongly recommended that all riders wear
proper riding attire, (i.e. shirt, long pants, heeled foot wear), and the use
of a riding helmet is strongly recommended. All riders under the age of 18 years are REQUIRED to wear
an ASTM/SEI safety approved riding helmet with harness fastened at all times when mounted.
